unfortunately we've just pulled dad out of the water due to the cold. He's going to be ok though. We'll put more info up later.

  1. Well it must be jolly cold, as you are the toughest out there when it comes to coping with cold water. I'm so sorry you didn't get the whole way across, but think you have done an absolutely amazing thing for even getting to the point where you gave it a go, let alone getting half way through. Well done Geoff!

  2. Hi Geoff,

Shit, poos and weese!!! What a buggar. But 7 hrs or so in the autumn water off Wellington would do anyone in. Great effort though. OPn the bright side, next time you try it you'll be even older and set an even harder record. All the best. David Lee

  4. Geoff you must feel terribly disappointed right now. When you've warmed up and had time to reflect hopefully you will take heart in the inspiration you've been for many of us. Despite not completing the task at hand this time around you've stayed 'race ready' for so many months. This in itself is possibly a greater achievement than the crossing itself. Un chapeau Geoff, we're incredibly proud of you.

  5. An amazing effort Geoff. 7hrs swimming in the Cook Strait is an incredible achievement. Now you're back in the boat are you going to fit in some fishing??? Austin & Shaun

  6. Helen A and I back on the phone again. Helen A ready and rearing to go to continue training with you through the winter for next seasons attempt! On the bright side, you don't need to be race ready again until November!? Lots of red wine, well done. See you seaside.

  8. You gave the Strait a fright Geoff. Yours was a serious well executed try and the result is no discredit to you. You're still the man!
